Her paternal grandparents are Christen Nelsson and Boel Jeppsdotter; her maternal grandparents were Andreas Larsson Skanberg and Elizabeth Pehrsson. She had two brothers and four sisters, named Christen, Anders, Johanna, Elna, Kjerstin and Karna. She is the oldest of the seven children.-
