Laura S. was born in 1874 in Oglethorpe Co., GA, USA. Laura S.'s father was Thomas C. Jennings and her mother was Susan T.. Her maternal grandparents were Cornelius Furcron and Sarah Ann Dillard. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Jessie, Peter Henery, Thomas J., Solomon P., Lady Blanch, Maude and Mary Bell. She was the second youngest of the eight children.
