His paternal grandparents are Archiblad McLeod and Isabella Graham; his maternal grandparents were John Calvin Currie and Margaret Keahey. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Archibald Graham, William Murdoch, Isabella, James Thornwell, Lena and Margaret Currie.-
