Her paternal grandparents are John McLean and Virginia Purcell; her maternal grandfather was John Calvin Currie and her maternal grandmother is Mary McLean. She had four brothers and three sisters, named John Luther, Malcolm Purcell ,Jr., James Kenneth, William Angus, Mary Virginia, Clara Lee and Lucy.-
