Notes for LIDA ALLEN: Lida was a member of one of the pioneer families of Choctaw County. Her grandfather moved from Anson County, North Carolina in the late 1830's. She was born in Cromwell, Alabama. She was educated in the public schools, then graduated from Montevallo University and taught school several years before she returned home to be her mother's companion. Her family was very important to her and when any member needed her, her services were freely rendered. She joined the Methodist Church at Christopher's Chapel when just a young lady. When a Methodist Church was established at Lisman, which was nearer, the family attended there and Lida taught a Sunday School class for many years.
