John was born before 1230. John's father was Theobald II le Boteler and his mother was Rohesia (Rose) de Verdon. His paternal grandparents were Theobald I le Boteler and Maud le Vavasour; his maternal grandfather was Nicholas de Verdon. He had a sister named Maud le Botiller. He was the younger of the two children. He had a half-brother named Theobald. He died on October 21st, 1274.-
