His paternal grandfather was Gilbert de Lacy and his paternal grandmother is UNKNOWN Agnes; his maternal grandfather was Ruaidri II Ua Conchobair. He had two brothers named Robert and William. He is the oldest of the three children. He had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Hugh, Walter, Emma and Mary.-
