Anna Catherina was born in October 1672 in Relsberg, Pfalz, Germany. Anna Catherina's father was Johan Peter Schaffer and her mother was Anna Margaretha. She had three brothers and a sister, named Johann Frederick, Johan Niclaus, Johann Michael and Anna Barbara.
