According to http://www.friesian.com/romania.htm: ROME AND ROMANIA, 27
BD-1453 AD: "One of the most interesting people in the diagram is the
Empress Galla Placidia, the daughter of Theodoius I, the wife of
Constantius III, and the mother of Valentinian III. With Honorius and
Constantius she was buried in the chapel of Saints Nazarius and Celsus in
Ravenna. J.B>Bury (History of the Later Roman Empire Vol 1, Dover 1958,
p.263) says that her embalmed body in Imperial robes eated on a chair of
cy0press wood could be seen through a hole in the back till AD 1577, when
all the contents of the tomb were accidentally burned through the
carelessness of children. Mosaics in Ravenna from this period alreadfy
show the books of the Bible bound in codices, ie familiar bound books
rather than scrolls."
