THE NORTON FAMILY OF GUILFORD, CONNECTICUT 1856 lists a separate French
lineage for John Norton who married Jane Cooper the leads back to Sr.
Norville from France who came in 1066 with William the Conqueror to
England. Subsequent generations changed name to Norton. There is an
alternative lineage from Norton, Yorkshire, England that lists his
parents as John Norton (born 1457-1460) and Margaret Warde (born 1459).
Genealogists disagree about which ancestry is correct. Both lines are
included in this family tree-more research is needed, but at this time
I've used the French lineage because it located John Norton in
Bedforshire not Yorkshire, England.
