Hill, South Carolina. As far as we can figure it, she married John Monk
of Edgefield County, North Carolina. I have not found a connection of
the John and John Monk's. But, William Harding was the father of most of
Ritty's children. He was listed on one of the records as bring John's
handyman. (Pretty handy huh?) Then Ritty Monk signed for John Harding to
marry Amanda M. Fields. Always before he was listed as John Monk. Then
some of the others changed their name to Harding also. As far as I can
tell, Abner was the only Monk in that family. The name changes came
after John Monk died. "

Abner was born before 1840 in Russell County, Virginia. He died after 1852 in Goose Creek, Roane County, West Virginia.
They had five sons and two daughters, named John G., Joseph, Samuel, George William, James S., Rachel A. Monk and Sarah Frances Monk.
