John McDowell 
John was born in 1714 in Ulster or Glenlo, Raloo Parish, County Antrim, Ireland. John's father was Ephraim McDowell and his mother was Margaret Irvine. His paternal grandfather was Abraham McDowell; his maternal grandparents were Robert Irvine and Margaret Wylie. He had a brother and two sisters, named James, Mary Elizabeth and Margaretta. He was the second oldest of the four children. He died at the age of 28 on December 14th, 1742 in Battle of Balcony Falls, Petit's Gap, Borden's Grant , Rockingham County or Balcony Falls, Lexington, Augusta or Rockbridge County, Virginia. He was buried in Maryland Tavern orTimber Ridge Church cemetery, Rockbridge County, Virginia.General Notes
