Alias:<ALIA> Paul /Custer/, Kester or Kuesters
Some sources list his death on Feb 18, 1708. I question whether he
actually had two wives named Gertrude.  "Both" Gertrudes are probably the
same person.  Note especially the identical marriage date.  Problem:
different last names and her parents' names but could be solved by
factoring in the Americanization of some names upon immigration (ie
Streyphers may have become Doors).
According to an ancestry.com entry "It's Always Sad When Cousins Marry"
by David Eyre (deye@@gmx.de):
"Paul imigrated about 1685.  His family was one of the first settlers of
Germantown, Pennsylvania which is now a part of Philadelphia.  He is
listed on the tax list in Germantown in 1693.  Paul and his sons, Arnold
and Hermanus were members of the Mennonite Church.  Johannes became a
member of the Society of Friends (Quakers).  The Philadelphia Register of
Wills, Book C, p. 72 shows the estate of Paul Kuster and Getrude, his
wife.  It is dated January 28, 1707/08.  The family signed their names
many different ways including Custer, Kustur, Kostard, Kister, Kishter,
Kosters, Kusters, etc.  Most of Hermanus' descendants signed it Custer. 
Most if not all, of Johannes spelled it Kester."
According to email from William Long/Elaine A. Dodd dated 1/16/04: "PAUL
KUSTER*, emmigrant ancestor of the Custard family of Upper Bucks County,
was a Mennonite who came from Crefeld, Germany and settled in Germantown
in 1683. It is somewhat uncertain whether he came on the Concord with the
original thirteen settlers or soon afterward. He was accompanied by his
wife Gertrude, who was a sister of Wilhelm Streypers, who came from
Kaldkirchen, a village in Germany between Crefeld and the border line of
Holland..."
