Daniel was born on August 14th, 1814 in Wayne Township, Montgomery County, Ohio. Daniel's father was Joseph House Johnson and his mother was Mary Eve Stoker. His maternal grandparents were John Stoker and Elizabeth Critton. He had seven brothers and five sisters, named David, Dennis Clements, John, Thomas, William F., Isaac, Joseph H., Amy Jane, Caroline, Delilah Ann, Elizabeth and Henrietta. He died at the age of 70 on November 13th, 1884 in Butler Township, Montgomery County, Ohio. He was buried in Johnson Cemetery,Wayne Township,Montgomery County,Ohio.-
