Abner was born in 1763 in Richmond County, Virginia. Abner's father was John Hanks and his mother was UNKNOWN Susannah. His paternal grandparents were John Hanks and UNKNOWN Catherine. He had three brothers named George, John and Elijah. He was the second oldest of the four children. He died at the age of 83 on September 5th, 1846 in Johnson County, Indiana.-
