Olav was born before 1235.  Olav's father was Halvard Haraldson and his mother is Eline Toresdatter.  His paternal grandfather was Harald Stangarfylja and his paternal grandmother is Ulfhild Simonsdatter; his maternal grandfather was Tore Bjornson Tinghatt and his maternal grandmother is Sigrid Haftorsdatter. He had a brother and a sister, named Guttorm and Ulfhild. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Tore, Torleiv and Borghild.  He died before 1317.
