Benjamin was born on May 14th, 1691 in Piscataway, Middlesex County, New Jersey. Benjamin's father was Samuel Doty and his mother was Sarah Jane Harmon. His paternal grandparents were Edward Doty and Faith Clarke; his maternal grandparents were James Harmon and Sarah Clarke. He had nine brothers and three sisters, named Samuel, John, Isaac, Edward, James, Joseph, Nathaniel, Jonathan, Daniel, Sarah, Elizabeth and Margaret.-
