Galentine was born on February 11th, 1799 in Montgomery Co., Maryland.  He died at the age of 82 on September 19th, 1881 in West Liberty, Muscatine Co., Iowa.  He was buried in Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty, Muscatine Co., Iowa.
