Robert was born about 1037 in Mortaigne, Normandie. Robert's father was Harlevin De Conteville and his mother was Herleva De Falaise. His paternal grandfather was Jean De Conteville; his maternal grandparents are Fulbert de Falaise and Doda of Falaise. He had a brother and three sisters, named Odo, Mathilde, Emma and Muriel. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named William and Adelaide. He died on December 8th, 1090 in France. He was buried in Abbaye De Grestain.-
