Trahaearn was born in 1030 in Arwystli, Wales.  Trahaearn's father is Caradog ap Gwyn and his mother is Miss Verch Gwerystan.  His maternal grandparents are Gwerystan Ap Gwaithfoed and Nest verch Cadell. He had a half-brother named Tewdwr.  He died at the age of 51 in 1081 in Battle of Carno, Arwystli, Wales.
