Richard was born about 1403 in Northwyke, Devonshire, England.  Richard's father is William Wyke and his mother is Katherine Elizabeth Burnell.  His paternal grandfather is Roger De WRAY; his maternal grandfather is John Burnell. He had three brothers named Roger, John and Henry.  He was the second youngest of the four children.  He died before 1476.

‌Richard and Elizabeth were married in a religious ceremony about 1433.  They had three sons and a daughter, named John, William, Richard and Margaret.
