Grace was born in 1585 in Fingeringhoe, England. Grace's father was Tobias Makin and her mother was Katherine Bell. Her paternal grandparents are John MaKyng and Mrs. Makyng; her maternal grandparents are Thomas Westbrome and Mrs. Elizabeth Westbrome. She was an only child. She died in Watertown, MA.
‌Grace and Thomas "The Pilgrim" were married in a religious ceremony in Duxbury, MA. They had seven sons and nine daughters, named Thomas, Joseph, John, Eleazer, James, William, Edward, Margaret, Elizabeth (Lysbeth), Lydia, Anne, Katherine, Ruth, Mary, Hannah and Alicia.
