Richard was born in 1147 in Caernarvon Castle, Beckermet, Cumberland, England. Richard's father was Michael Fleming and his mother is Christian Stainton. His paternal grandfather was Michael Fleming and his paternal grandmother is Miss Stuteville; his maternal grandfather is Gilbert Stainton. He had five brothers and a sister, named William, Anselem, Marcelius, Jordon, Daniel and Goditha. He was the oldest of the seven children. He died at the age of 60 in 1207.-
