Henry was born in 1163 in Atholl, Scotland.  Henry's father is Malcolm II Earl of Atholl and his mother is Mrs. Countess of Atholl.  His paternal grandfather was Maddad Madach| Madd Earl of Atholl.  He is an only child.

‌Henry and Mrs. Margaret were married in a religious ceremony in 1187 in Mentieth, Scotland.  They had two daughters named Isabella and Forlissa Ferelith.
