Nicholas was born in 1235. Nicholas' father was Thomas Corbet and his mother is Isabel De Valletort. His paternal grandparents were Robert Corbet and Emma Pantolph; his maternal grandfather was Roger De Valletort and his maternal grandmother is Alesia. He had three brothers and four sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named Peter, Roger, Robert, Alice, Emma, Winnewine, Elizabeth and Venice. He is the youngest of the nine children.-
