Phebe was born on October 3rd, 1725 in Of New Garden, Guilford, N. C. Phebe's father was John Beals and her mother was Sarah C Bowater. Her paternal grandparents were John Beals Sr. and Mary Jane Clayton; her maternal grandparents were Thomas Bowater and Sarah Edge. She had three brothers and five sisters, named Thomas, John, Bowater, Sarah, Mary Ann, Phebe, Prudence and Hannah. She died at the age of 79 on August 19th, 1805 in New Garden Mm, Guilford, Nc.-
