James was born in 1914. James' father was James E. Anders and his mother was Florence Sexton. His paternal grandparents were Abraham Anders and Susan Spurlin. He had five brothers and two sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named Robert, Reid, Coy, Page Lee, Author, Selma, Alma and Gwyn. He is the third youngest of the nine children.-
