Lake Erie was born about 1885 in Mercer Co., West Virginia.1 Lake Erie's father was Thomas Boyd Cooke and her mother was Louisa Estas Thompson. Her maternal grandparents were Howard Gordon Thompson and Louisa J. Bailey. She had seven brothers and four sisters, named Forrest, Thomas Boyd, Averill Gester, Jay, Wayne, Dale, Theodore B., Leora Effie, Bertha, Brada E. and Winnie Hobart. She was the sixth oldest of the twelve children. She died in 1918 in Mercer Co., West Virginia. She was buried in 1918 in Athens Cemetery, Mercer County, West Virginia.1 1 -
