Hugh was born about 1047 in Normandy, France. Hugh's father was Richard Le Goz D' Avranches and his mother was Emma De Conteville. His paternal grandparents were Toustien De Gernon Le Goz and Judith De Montandlier; his maternal grandparents were Harlevin Herluin Conteville and Arlette Herleve De Falaise. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Albert, Turstin Of, Judith and Margaret. He was the oldest of the five children. He died on July 27th, 1101 in St Werburg's Abbey, Cheshire, England As A Monk.General Notes
