Sanford SMITH 
Sanford was born on February 27th, 1760 in Stonington, New London, Connecticut.1 Sanford's father was Ephraim SMITH and his mother was Lucy STEPHENS. His paternal grandparents were John SMITH and Susannah CHESLEY; his maternal grandparents were Henry STEPHENS and Elizabeth FELLOWS. He had a brother and four sisters, named Gilbert, Anne, Lucy, Thankful and Eliphal. He was the youngest of the six children. He had three half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Jerusha, Seth, Zipporah, Jerusha, Grace, Zipporah, Sussanah and Hannah. He died at the age of 55 on June 15th, 1815 in Scipio, Cayuga, Ny.1 General Notes
