Her paternal grandparents were Samuel Jones ROLFE and Elizabeth HATHAWAY; her maternal grandparents were Joseph William BATES and Mary Ann HARRIS. She had five brothers and four sisters, named Samuel Joseph, Charles Gilbert, Ianthus (Dan) Jerome, Ismtha Jerome, William Benjamin, Mary Ann Harris, Lydia, Clarica Jane and Della R..
