Joan was born in 1310 in , , Norfolk, England.1 Joan's father was Henry PLANTAGENET and her mother was Maud de CHAWORTH. Her paternal grandparents were Edmund "Crouchback" Plantagenet and Blanche D' ARTOIS; her maternal grandparents were Patrick De CHAWORTH and Isabella De Beauchamp. She had two brothers and five sisters, named Henry "of Grosmont", Henry, Blanche, Maud "of Lancaster", Isabel, Eleanor Plantagenet Of and Mary. She died at the age of 39 on July 7th, 1349. Joan was the 5th daughter of Henry Plantagenet (1281-1345), Earl ofLancaster. Henry was a grandson of Henry III (1207-1272), his fatherbeing 4th child and 2nd son of Henry III, and consequently he was anephew of Edward I and cousin to Edward II. His services to Isabella,queen teo Edward II, were probably support during the coup in the name ofEdward III against his mother and Mortimer in 1320.
