Obadiah was born in 1695 in Edgartown, Dukes County, Martha's Vinyard, Massachusetts. Obadiah's father was Simon NEWCOMBE and his mother was Deborah NEWCOMB. His paternal grandparents were Andrew NEWCOMB and Sarah UNKNOWN. He had six brothers and six sisters, named Andrew, John, Benjamin, Simeon, Thomas, Hezekiah, Deborah, Rebecca, Joanna, Sarah, Elizabeth and Deborah.
