Thomas was born in 1620 in St Davids, Pembrokeshire, Wales. Thomas' father was John (Sion) MEYRICK and his mother was Dorothy BISHOP. His paternal grandparents were William MEYRICK and Janet Verch IENEN; his maternal grandfather was Matthew BISHOP and his maternal grandmother is Elizabeth YOUNG. He had eight brothers named William, John, James, Thomas, William, James, John and John. He was the youngest of the nine children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Thomas and Janet.
