Jennie was born about 1784 in Washington, VA.  Jennie's father is John William Johnston and her mother was Nancy Hilton.  Her maternal grandparents were William Hilton and Sarah Bryant. She had four brothers and a sister, named James, William, George Washington, Benjamin Albright and Nancy Hilton.  She is the second oldest of the six children.
