John De was born about 1205 in Of, Shirland, Derbyshire, England.  John De's father was Henry De GREY and his mother was Isolda (Iseude) BARDOLF.  His paternal grandparents are Richard De GREY and Mrs-Richard De GREY; his maternal grandparents are Hugh BARDOLF and Isobel AQUILLION. He had six brothers and a sister, named Richard De, Hugh De, William De, Robert De, Walter De, Henry De and Joan De.  He was the fourth oldest of the eight children.  He died in March 1265.
