Rowland was born about 1524 in , , , England.  Rowland's father was Thomas FORSTER and his mother is Dorothy OGLE. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Thomas, John, Regionald, Thomas, Angus, Robert, Eleanor, Dorothy, Elizabeth and Margaret.  He is the sixth oldest of the eleven children.
