Julia de was born about 1156 in , Dammartin-en-Goele, Seine-et-Marne, France.1   Julia de's father was Aubrey II de Mello and her mother was Mathilda de Ponthieu.  Her paternal grandparents were Alberic I de Mello and Clementia de Dammartin-Aumale; her maternal grandparents were Renaud II Of CLERMONT-EN-BEAUVAISIS and Clemence Montbéliard. She had two brothers and four sisters, named Renaud, Simon II de, Agnes de, Juliane De, Clemence de and Aélis de.  She is the oldest of the seven children.

‌Julia de and Hugh were married in a religious ceremony about 1170 in <, Boves, Somme, France>.2   They have four sons and two daughters, named Anselm de, Hugh De, Robert de, John de, Gunnora de and Milicent.
