David Jr. was born on January 15th, 1781 in , Albemarle, Virginia. David Jr.'s father was David DALTON and his mother was Susan (Susanna) DAVIS. His paternal grandparents were Samuel DALTON and Ann Dandridge "Nancy" REDD; his maternal grandparents were Isaac DAVIS and Sarah Elizabeth WINSTON.
