Rhufon Ap was born about 0411 in Of, Rhufoniog, Denbighshire, Wales.  Rhufon Ap's father is Cunedda "Wledig" Ap EDERN and his mother is Gwawl Verch COEL.  His paternal grandfather is Edern Ap PADARN. He has nine brothers and two sisters, named Tybion Ap, Edern Ap, Ceredig Ap, Afloeg Ap, Ysfael Ap, Einion "Yrth" Ap, Dunog Ap, Dogfael Ap, Gwron Ap, Tegid (Tegeingl) Verch and Gwen Verch.  He is the third oldest of the twelve children.
