Sarah was born in 1631 in Westbury Leigh, Wilts, England and her baptism took place in Allsaints Parish, Westbury Leigh, Wiltshire, England. Sarah's father was John COGGSWELL and her mother was Elizabeth THOMPSON. Her paternal grandparents were Edward COGGSWELL and Alice Mrs COGGSWELL; her maternal grandparents were William THOMPSON and Phillis Mrs THOMPSON. She had three brothers and eight sisters, named William, John, Edward, Daughter, Miss, UNKNOWN, Mary, Daughter, Hannah, Abigail and Elizabeth. She was the second youngest of the twelve children.
