Ambrose Carroll was born on February 9th, 1806 in Craven County, North Carolina. Ambrose Carroll's father was James Hogan Bull and his mother was Freelove Lovey Campbell. His paternal grandparents were Ambrose Bull and Elizabeth Hogan Johnson; his maternal grandfather was James Campbell and his maternal grandmother is Lydia Chapman. He had two brothers and three sisters, named James Campbell, William Maurice, Sarah, Susannah and Mary. He was the third oldest of the six children. He died at the age of 84 on April 12th, 1890 in Bull Creek, Mills County, Texas.General Notes
