William was born in 1552.1   William's father was John Ball and his mother was Alice Haynes.  His paternal grandparents were John Ball and Agnes Hathaway. He had a brother and two sisters, named Richard, Elizabeth and Joane.  He was the oldest of the four children. He had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named Robert, Thomas, Captain William and Rachel.1
