JOSEPHUS was born in 1767 in NEWARK, ESSEX, New Jersey.  JOSEPHUS' father was Timothy BRUEN and his mother is LYDIA CRANE.  His paternal grandfather is Timothy BRUEN and his paternal grandmother was PHEBE CANFIELD; his maternal grandparents were Robert CRANE and PHEBE UNKNOWN. He had three brothers and four sisters, named THADDEUS, NATHANIEL, JOSIAH, PHEBE, Charlotte, Cathrine and Sarah.  He is the third oldest of the eight children.
