Augusta was born on June 14th, 1787 in Grossbottwar, , Wrt, Ger.  Augusta's father was Johann Daniel Bauer and her mother was Anna Maria Wustin. She had four brothers and six sisters, named Johannes, Johann Daniel, Johann Conrad, Jacob, Magdalena Dorothea, Maria Agnes, Anna Maria, Anna Maria, Christina Magdalena and Rosina Magdalena.  She is the youngest of the eleven children.
