"Ralph De Tonei II was a General with Duke Richard of the Norman forces at Auxerre in 1003. About 1011 Count Ralph De Tonei II was appointed Castellan of Tillieres with Nigel, Viscount of Coutances. By 1016, Count Ralph had a falling out with Duke Richard and banished from the duchy. He went to Salerno, Italy. We later find Count Ralph with his son Roger (Roger the Spaniard) and Nigel de Coutances defending the castle at Tillieres against Odo de Chartres. Count Ralph also had a son Hugh De Limesy who had taken his surname after Limesy, a manor which belonged to the De Tonei's. Count Ralph's other sons were Ralph, Baldric and Robert who fought at the Battle of Hastings. He also had another son Berenger d'Espagne (Spain). He also had a daughter Bertha who married Guy de Laval."@@S195@@
