Gieva was born in 1068 in Barnstable, Devonshire, England.  Gieva's father was William De Tracy and her mother was Rohesia UNKNOWN.  Her paternal grandfather was Turgisus De Tracy. She had two brothers named Turgisus and Henry.  She was the oldest of the three children.
