Hugh was born in 1039 in Poitou, France.1 Hugh's father was Hugh De Lusignan and his mother was Almode De La Haute Marche. His paternal grandparents were Hugh De Lusignan and Amelie (Aldearde) De Thouars; his maternal grandparents were Bernard De La Marche & Perigord and Amelia De Montignac. He had four half-brothers and three half-sisters, named William, Raymond, Ramón, Berenguer Ramon, Almode, Gersinde and Agnes. He died at the age of 71 in 1110.1 General Notes
