Walter was born after 1198.1 Walter's father was Margaret MARSHAL and his mother was Isabel DE CLARE. His paternal grandparents were John MARSHAL and Sybil FITZ PATRICK; his maternal grandparents were Richard DE CLARE and Aoife/Eva MACMURROUGH. He had seven brothers and eight sisters, named William II, William, Richard, Gilbert, Anselm, Anselm/Ambrose, Gilbert III, Margaret, Maud, Eve, Isabel, Joan, Sibyl, Sybil and Eva. He had a half-brother named Roger. He died in 1245 in Goodrich Castle, London. He was buried in Tintern Abbey.1 1 General Notes
