Alexander was born in 1721 in Mull, Argyll, Scotland. Alexander's father was John The Younger MACLEAN and his mother was Isabella MACLEAN. His paternal grandparents were Ewen MACLEAN and Margaret MACLEAN; his maternal grandparents were Charles Mac Neil Ban MACLEAN and Florence MACLEAN. He had three sisters named Ann, Catherine and Mary. He died at the age of 44 on January 28th, 1765 in Mull, Argyll, Scotland.General Notes
